Fernie Alpine Resort

Fernie, BC

Fernie Alpine Resort knows that spring fever is taking over and we’re getting the mountain bike itch too, so here are the trails which will be available for this season.

Trail Name: Silk & Manchuria
Difficulty: Easy (green)
Description: Part of the winter XC trails system. Approximately 10 km of smooth dirt roads and gentle grades. Great for beginner riders.

Trail Name: Boom
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: One of the easiest trails - wide road and single track traverses to the top of the Haul Back T-Bar. A short steep section leads to Cedar Trail or View Trail. Easy smooth dirt roads then lead to the base area.

Trail Name: Cedar
Difficulty: Easy (green)
Description: Smooth easy dirt road from the bottom of Cedar Bowl to the base area.

Trail Name: View
Difficulty: Easy (green)
Description: Smooth easy dirt road from the bottom of Haul Back T-Bar to the base area.

Trail Name: Deer Trail
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Traverses on the smooth dirt road around to the Deer Chair, then follows an easier single track through the forest to the base. The single track section does have quite a few roots and tight spots.

Trail Name: Power Carve
Difficulty: Most Difficult (black)
Description: This popular trail is a top to bottom smooth single track with some tight steep sections and some technical spots. From the top of the Elk Chair, this trail follows the forest down just south of the Elk Chair to the base.

Trail Name: Trac II
Difficulty: Extreme (double black)
Description: Access Trac II via Mr. Berms or Power Carve (near the top). There are some technical sections of single track and one steep straight section that the trail builders will be re-designing this summer. Exit onto the summer road at Holo Hike and then take Rubber Ducky, Phat Larry's or Dual Slalom to the base area.

Trail Name: Playground
Difficulty: Extreme (double black)
Description: Technical single track with a number of challenging stunts and log rides that are optional. Access via Mr. Berms.

Trail Name: Summer Road
Difficulty: Hiking Trail/Biking
Description: From the top of the Elk Chair, the Summer Road leads to the top of the Bear Chair. At 1000 vertical feet of rise and steep pull off the start. This is a trail for hikers or super fit bikers.

Trail Name: Kodiak Karnage
Difficulty: Experts Only (triple black)
Description: Access via Mr. Berms (near the top). This triple black run is for expert riders only. It starts with a narrow down ramp with mandatory drops down steeps through the forest. Several drops lead down towards Cedar Trail.

Trail Name: Gorbie Climb
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Gorbie Trail enters the resort from the Corral just above the Fernie Provincial Park Campground and leads to several popular rides off ski area lands in the Sherwoody Forest area.

Trail Name: Black Forest
Difficulty: Extreme (double black)
Description: Starting at Confusion Corner (where Boom Trail meets Cedar Trail), Black Forest starts with a steep section of single track in thick forest then winds it's way back to the resort through the Galloway Lands. Black Forest also leads to Mega Hurts - a beautiful single track that take the riders away from the resort leading to the lower end of the Gorbie Climb.

Trail Name: Aggravated Assault
Difficulty: Experts Only (triple black)
Description: This popular trail is full of stunts and steep technical sections. The trail is currently under construction and is scheduled to re-open better than ever in late July.

Trail Name: Double Creek & Double Creek Extension
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Double Creek is part of the Canada Cup cross country course that leads out past the sand shed through the forest on an out and back single track the is great for all levels of cross country riders.

Trail Name: Hobbits Trail
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: From the bottom of Boomerang Chair, this smooth dirt road leads down hill out to the base area. Watch for horses on this trail.

Trail Name: Larch Trail
Difficulty: Easy (green)
Description: From the Boomerang Chair, this access road leads uphill to the base. Watch for vehicles.

Trail Name: Honey Bee
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Honey Bee starts at the Cedar Trail and can be accessed from Playground, Mr. Berms, Hornet, or Trac II. Honey Bee is a fast smooth and fun single track with small banked turns, smooth soft dirt, and a few wide bridges through the wet section. A definite must ride.

Trail Name: Dual Slalom
Difficulty: Most Difficult (black)
Description: The Dual Slalom has been re-worked this summer and now connects right into Mr. Berms. Smooth high banked turns, tables and rollers snake down to the big table at the base. Measure your speed when you reach the big table at the bottom.

Trail Name: Phat Larry's
Difficulty: Extreme (double black)
Description: Starting off Cedar Trail (next to Honey Bee), Phat Larry's is steep and full of advanced stunts and log rides.

Trail Name: Hollow Tree
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Hollow tree is accessed via the Deer Trail and goes all the way to the base area. It is a nice single track with some tricky bits through mature forest. Good for intermediate riders as it makes you pay attention but is not too steep.

Trail Name: Holo Hike
Difficulty: Most Difficult (black)
Description: Accessed via the Cedar Trail, this is a steep single track that leads to the base area.

Trail Name: Alternate Flight Pattern
Difficulty: Extreme (double black)
Description: This favorite trail was once the Canada Cup Downhill course. The trail features lots of great ramps and smooth single track. From the top of the Elk Chair, there is a steep technical section that leads to the high speed section on Deer Trail. Follow the trail off the Deer Trail and back into the woods. The trail builders have put up a huge overpass over the Top Gun that is sure to be a thriller. Follow the trail across the half pipe, and air into the woods for the final pitches top the base area.

Trail Name: Far Out
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Starting just past the entrance to Honey Bee, Far Out is a great bit of meandering single track that goes out to the Boomerang Chair and then returns to the base.

Trail Name: Hornet
Difficulty: Most Difficult (black)
Description: Breaking off from Trac II, Hornet heads into the trees for some technical single track with some interesting advanced ramps and log rides. It exits onto Cedar Trail and leads into Phat Larry's or Honey Bee.

Trail Name: Bicycle Thief
Difficulty: Most Difficult (black)
Description: Originally built as a hiking trail from the top of the Timber Chair, this trail has been stolen as one of the favorite biking trails off the Timber Chair. Technical, steep, and fun for advanced riders. Access Bicycle Thief from the corner on the Megasaurus.

Trail Name: Canada Cup Downhill
Difficulty: Extreme (double black)
Description: Access this trail via Megasaurus. Highly technical single track with steep sections, rocky & rooty sections and small drops. The trail winds in and out of tree areas, interspersed with high speed open sections. This is an advanced trail that challenges skilled riders, and is a spectacle to watch the professionals ride at full speed during the Canada Cup Downhill race.

Trail Name: Top Gun
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue/black)
Description: Brand new for this summer! High speed banked turns, step ups and tables make this the new thrill ride for those looking for speed, air, and flow.

Trail Name: Mr. Berms
Difficulty: More Difficult (blue)
Description: Started in 2003, Mr. Berms now descends the Elk from the top and joins into the Dual Slalom, for 1000 vertical feet of smooth high banked turns, and speed. A great ride for all levels of riders.
