Bids now being accepted for USA Cycling Mountain Bike Nationals 19 days ago USA Cycling is now accepting bids to host the 2009/2010 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships. The event is set to be contested the third week in July and will include cross country, short-track cross country, downhill, 4-cross, super D and observed trials events. Bids are also being accepted for USA Cyclingandrsquo;s Mountain Bike Marathon National Championships, 24-Hour Mountain Bike National Championships and Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships. All bids must be received no later than June 10, 2008
Gould posts top finish for U.S. in opening 2008 UCI MTB World Cup 20 days ago The opening round of the 2008 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup took place in Houffalize, Belgium over the weekend where a record field of more than 400 riders lined up for the first event that factors into Olympic team selection. Of the sixteen Americans that competed in the elite menandrsquo;s and womenandrsquo;s cross country events, Georgia Gould posted the top finish with a fifth- place effort in the womenandrsquo;s race on Sunday. In menandrsquo;s competition, Todd Wells posted the best American result with an 11th-place finish.
McConneloug, Jurekovic claim Pan American MTB titles 34 days ago The United States Cycling Team captured a pair of Pan American Mountain Bike titles last weekend at the annual Continental Championships in Venezuela. Mary McConneloug captured the elite women's title while USA Cycling National Development Team member Sam Jurekovic earned the U23 championship. In the elite men's race, Todd Wells and Michael Broderick were the top competitors for the U.S., placing fifth and sixth respectively.

U23 Mountain Bike Support and Identification Program launched 45 days ago USA Cycling announced today a new financial incentive program to support U23 mountain bike athletes who compete on the national circuit. The purpose of the U23 Mountain Bike Support and Identification Program is to create incentives for top U23 cross country athletes to compete in pre-determined races in the United States that will be used for the identification and selection of riders for future international competitions. Following each qualifying event, performance stipends will be awarded to menandrsquo;s and womenandrsquo;s cross country athletes who meet certain criteria.
Gravity East Series announces complete schedule 47 days ago The Gravity East Series is returning after a successful debut in 2007. This year's series will consist of eight races with all events acting as qualifiers for the 2008 USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships. The downhill mountain bike series will kick off on May 9 at Massanutten Resort in Virginia and will wrap up with the Gravity East Series Finals at Plattekill Mountain Resort, October 11-12.
USA Cycling takes mountain bike development to the next level 54 days ago In an effort to keep improving the level of competitive mountain bike racing in America, USA Cycling recently implemented changes to its U23 and Junior mountain bike development programs. In order to cast a wider net, the national governing body is slowly moving away from a domestic-based National Team model that commits most of its resources to just a few riders towards a more inclusive program that gives others an opportunity to gain valuable international racing experience. Like USA Cycling's National Development Team on the road, or its women's national team and junior national team programs, the shift in philosophy is expected to pay equally high dividends.
USA Cycling's Mountain Bike Promoter Incentive Program 59 days ago USA Cyclingandrsquo;s Mountain Bike Promoter Incentive Program will once again distribute $5 from every primary adult annual mountain bike license sold in the state to USAC clubs who held eligible events in 2007.
